Our guest speaker program is for the current faculty and student community to gain exposure to additional educational experiences by bringing in experts on various topics throughout the year.

Chef Pink

On Sunday, September 13th , CHEF PINK aka Crystal DeLongpré and her wife, Courtney Rae DeLongpré, owners of local restaurant Bacon and Brine gave a lecture at Midland entitled NOSE TO TAIL EATING.

The DeLongprés discussed how important it is to utilize the whole animal when consuming meat as part of a diet and advised on how to create zero waste with whole animal butchery, while ensuring maximum nutrition.  Bacon and Brine, and Chef Pink, have been featured in many articles, including in the Huffington Post, and the Santa Barbara Independent. Chef Pink was featured on the Food Network in Cutthroat Kitchen, a popular television show.

Wilrich Lecture

Jane Woodward and Karl Knapp, Consulting Professors in Stanford University's Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and CEO and Vice President of Energy Education at MAP, spoke to the Midland community about the present and future of renewable energy in California, the United States, and the World. Jane, who has taught energy classes at Stanford since 1991, and Karl, who has co-taught with Jane for many years, drew from their Stanford lectures as they take turns describing several key ideas about renewable energy with Midland students
