MLK Day 2014

January 24, 2014

Martin Luther King, Jr. Day at Midland
We were fortunate to be joined by Caitrin McKiernan '98, whose life after Midland took her to China where she merged two passions - the work of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on non-violence and modern China.  Caitrin co-directed a play at the National Theatre of China about the Civil Rights Movement cast with Chinese citizens and actors. Caitrin's ground-breaking work was highlighted in an award winning documentary film Bringing King to China by her father Kevin McKiernan. Caitrin and Kevin joined us at Midland to screen the film and host a discussion.  Their work was followed by a panel discussion involving the Midland students who attended the NAIS Student Diversity Leadership Conference in Washington, DC last month.
