Sophomores build a wind turbine

March 31, 2015

In the first couple days of Experiential Week, our 10th graders - who proved to be excellent craftsmen and learners - worked alongside Christian Casillas and faculty using an array of hand and power tools to build all the components of a small scale wind turbine. This included hand carved redwood blades, copper coils set into resin, a powerful magnet assembly, a rectifier, and a whimsical tail vane. The turbine works and will be an excellent classroom model.  See photo album of their incredible work.
