Lauren has been a student of the horse for as long as she can remember. Growing up in the East Bay Area, Lauren began her equine journey at age seven through professional riding lessons, starting with English riding discipline. As her skills grew, she expanded her riding experience to Western and English pleasure and Ranch Versatility, often testing those skills in the show arena. After graduating from Feather River College Equine Program, Lauren was hired as a riding instructor, where she taught the Western Equitation classes and developed a Show Competition class concentrating on Ranch Versatility. Her dedication and passion for equine education led her to The Thacher School in Ojai, California, in June of 2021 as their Barn Administrator. Lauren enjoys the unique boarding school experience and is excited to bring her equine skills to Midland.

Lauren loves to teach life lessons and develop riding skills through the horse using Natural Horsemanship. She has been influenced by several fantastic Horsemen, including Tom and Bill Dorrance, Ray Hunt, Bryan Neubert, Gene Armstrong, and Nick Dowers. Lauren was incredibly impressed with the Midland School’s experiential and place-based education philosophy, and she can’t wait to blend her skill set with Midland’s idea of living your education.

Lauren is blessed to be a pet mom to five wonderful fur babies: Gatsby and Aspen, her two horses who are full siblings; Pippa the Wonder Dog; and two cats, Poopsie and Trixie, who are the best mouse hunters around. She also has several freshwater fish tanks and house plants. In her spare time, Lauren loves to work in the garden, go for a hike, or hop on her Harley and take a cruise. Lauren is genuinely in love with being a student of the horse, and she can’t wait to share this love of horses with her students at Midland.
