From Lovers Loop to Grass Mountain, explore our 35+ miles of trails

Download a trail map

From the steep hike up Grass Mountain to the gorgeous views from Lover’s Loop, hiking on Midland’s property never disappoints. As a biodiversity hotspot and home of unique geologic features, our trails are a world of wonders. Keep your eye out for the Santa Barbara Jewelflower, one of the rarest annual plants in North America, look for the 100 million-year-old fault that runs through the area and watch & listen for the critters that share the land with us. Whether you’ve made hiking the Midland trails part of your weekly routine or you’re coming out for the first time, we’re excited to have you here.

Before you go, remember to obtain a permit by following the process outlined below, check our trail status and reach out with any questions. See you on the trails!

Obtain Your Hiking Permit

For individuals or small groups

In order to hike as an individual or small group (five or fewer people), you must have a permit, which you can obtain one of two ways: (1) complete our annual hiking permit online in advance, (2) fill out a day pass at the trailhead.
