AP Exams
Midland students consistently achieve strong results on Advanced Placement exams, reflecting the depth and rigor of their academic preparation. While Midland does not offer AP-designated courses—we find the traditional AP curriculum limited in scope—students who complete honors-level work often elect to take, and excel in, AP exams. Several exams are hosted on campus each year, including Calculus, Spanish Language, English Language, and U.S. History (offerings may vary based on student interest and eligibility).

Learning Support
Midland has a dedicated Study Skills faculty that works closely with students and faculty to help students meet the expectations of a highly challenging curriculum. Support is individualized and focused on strengthening organization, time management, and effective study strategies.
For students with diagnosed learning differences or those who benefit from additional structure, the team provides targeted coaching and academic planning. Students who thrive at Midland are those who are willing to engage in their learning, use the support available to them, and take increasing ownership of their academic growth.

Standardized Testing
Midland ensures that students are prepared for standardized testing as part of the college process. Through strong academic coursework and guidance from our college counseling team, students develop the skills and strategies needed to approach testing with confidence.
The PSAT, SAT, Pre-ACT and ACT are offered on campus, and students receive support in deciding if, when, and how testing aligns with their college goals.
Testing Schedule
The PSAT is a preliminary version of the SAT that helps students build familiarity with standardized testing and can qualify students for the National Merit Scholarship program. At Midland, the PSAT is administered on campus each fall for Grade 11 students, giving them a structured opportunity to assess readiness and plan next steps.
The SAT is a widely used college admissions test that assesses reading, writing, and math skills. Midland offers the SAT on campus once each fall for Grade 12 students and once each spring for Grade 11 students. These in-school testing dates allow students to complete required testing without leaving campus or disrupting their academic schedule.
The Pre-ACT is a practice version of the ACT that helps students understand the format and content of the exam while identifying areas for growth. Midland administers the Pre-ACT once each fall, providing students with an early diagnostic tool as they consider their testing strategy.
The ACT is a college admissions test that measures skills in English, math, reading, and science. Midland offers the ACT on campus once each spring, allowing students to complete the exam in a familiar environment with support from the school.

My central goal in the learning support program is to meet students where they are in their journey towards a strong academic disposition. Whether they are struggling to manage responsibilities in the boarding school setting or ready to excel with extra challenges, I bring a personalized approach to offering guidance. Every Midland student has the opportunity to build up to a successful academic experience, and those who struggle to embrace academic independence receive responsive support beginning with targeted meetings and moving into an intervention program involving the teacher when necessary. I am available to our students for spontaneous and structured support throughout the year, and I partner with teachers and families to help provide the best learning experience possible for all Midlanders.
