Michael came to Midland with passions rooted in the outdoors, environmental and social justice. He sees the values that Midland embodies as essential to creating a future where humanity lives in reciprocity with the environment. He believes that the Midland Farm is a central point of the community that embodies so many of the values we aim to instill in students and ourselves. It is also a place of abundance and beauty. Yellow peaches are his favorite food from the Midland orchard. 

Michael enjoys waking up early to drink chai in his yard or to head to the coast for a surf. He also loves to cycle, read, write, stretch and breathe. Always curious, he loves to explore whether it’s just outside his back door or on a grand intercontinental scale. He travelled to Central Asia (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Western China) all via bicycle! Perhaps that explains why his personal motto is “Go before you know.”
