Dan Susman serves as Interim Head of School at Midland School. Before stepping into this role, he taught science, led the outdoors program, and served as Dean of Experiential Learning at Midland for nearly a decade. Prior to Midland, he worked for the Colorado Outward Bound School and co-founded Truck Farm Omaha, a farm education program built around a garden in the back of a pickup truck. Together, these experiences shaped his belief that transformational education has a few key ingredients: young people are trusted with authentic responsibility, surrounded by caring adults, and deeply connected to the place they call home.

Dan loves Midland because learning extends far beyond the classroom, to the garden, the barn, the trails, and the shared work of caring for a community, and students know that the work they do truly matters. When not working, Dan enjoys spending time in the wood-shop, rock climbing, surfing, and hanging out with his orange tabby cat, Bolete.
