Midland’s strength lies in our commitment to place, responsibility, and real human connection. Our model asks students to engage deeply with their environment, their work, and one another. That approach remains central as we look forward and continue to support young people in developing resilience, agency, and a strong sense of belonging.
We are now beginning a new strategic planning process to guide the school into its second century. This work will be shaped through listening and collaboration with students, faculty, staff, families, alumni, and trustees. The focus will be on alignment across program, campus, and community, ensuring that Midland continues to deliver an education of depth and relevance.
On the Road to Midland's Centennial
2019–2024 | Strengthening the Foundation
Midland completed a comprehensive strategic plan and advanced its Campus Renewal Campaign, addressing long-standing infrastructure priorities, investing in faculty housing, and enhancing key student spaces. The Meeting Our Needs Campaign laid the groundwork for these capital improvements and strengthened the school’s long-term programmatic and institutional health. We remain deeply grateful to the donors whose generosity across Phases I and II made this work possible.
2024 | Leadership Transition & Accreditation
Looking toward its Centennial, Midland welcomed Hannah Nelson as Head of School to steward the school’s next chapter. We also completed our accreditation, including a comprehensive review of programs, operations, campus assets, and institutional systems to support our mission and long-term sustainability. This work forms the foundation for Midland’s strategic planning.
2025 | Strategic Plan Development
Guided by a Strategic Planning Committee composed of trustees, faculty, students, parents, and administrators, our process incorporates input from families, alumni, and the broader community. Findings are synthesized into a formal strategic framework aligning program priorities, campus investment, enrollment strategy, and financial sustainability.
2027 | Strategic Plan Launch
Midland will introduce a comprehensive strategic plan to guide the school towards its second century, articulating institutional priorities and measurable goals for the decade ahead.
2032 | Centennial Celebration
We are excited to celebrate 100 years of Midland education, stewardship, and community.
