Christie grew up in North Idaho, exploring the rolling hills of the Palouse. During her teen years she fell head-over-heels with summer camp living, counseling and leading canoe trips on Lake Coeur d’Alene. Inspired by childhood backpacking adventures, and college study abroad in Ecuador and Central America, she values opportunities to hike and explore in the U.S. and abroad. Years of educator positions in CA public schools enabled her to learn from and advocate with students and their families, and grow a commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Christie is thrilled to be a member of the Midland team, where academic excellence includes close connection to nature; where she can encourage young adults while returning to her “farm girl” roots.

Christie adores the beach, her two grown children, and solitude time for writing and crafting. Her favorite spot on Midland’s campus is the garden, because the beauty of what’s growing and the landscape beyond are ever changing, and it’s always teeming with life.
