Raised in the Boston suburbs, Julia got her first taste of life on a farm as a high school student while spending a summer volunteering with an NGO in Honduras. Before she had even returned to the US, she had already made up her mind to spend the next summer volunteering abroad, too.

Those summer programs helped Julia realize that she loved teaching and eating handmade tortillas, and that she had a lot left to learn about Spanish and the Spanish speaking world! Eleven more years of schooling and a few degrees later, Julia is still–and will forever be– a student of the Spanish language.

At Midland, Julia loves getting to share her admiration for and curiosity about Latin American cultures with her students whether in the classroom or on experiential Saturdays!
