Gloria was first inspired by her aunts in Mexico, who worked as cooks for a boarding school in Guadalajara, when she visited her aunts at their jobs she was astonished by all the components that go into feeding the students. When she was offered a position at Midland, she gladly accepted because it was what she always wanted to do. She is proudly a mother of four Midland graduates who all went off to college and is grateful to Midland for teaching her children to be self-reliant and independent.

Growing up, Gloria wanted to be a cook at a school so that she could always positively affect others. No matter what kind of day someone is having, she likes to put a smile on people’s faces with a good plate of food. She is passionate about world hunger and educating children with disabilities. She loves taking care of her grandchildren and spending time with her family, she has 4 chickens, 2 dogs, and one miniature pony, and her favorite Midland Farm produce is peppers, tomatoes, and tomatillos to make salsas. Mexico City is one of her favorite places in the world because of all the historical museums, and her favorite place at Midland is the soccer field because of the view, the ability to feed many people without running out of space, and her memories of her children playing on that field.
